Community Guidelines_
Our Community in Brief
We want this platform to be a safe, authentic space for Veterans and their families to reconnect, share stories, and support each other.
Help us make that happen:
- Be yourself - talk like you would in the block, on the mess deck, or in the crew room.
- Respect the law - no bullying, threats, racism, child exploitation, or incitement to violence.
- Keep it inclusive - this is for everyone who served, no matter the length of service or cap badge.
- Self-police the banter - if it's out of order, report it.
- Three upheld reports = banned. No warnings. No appeals.
Our Community in Long Form
Welcome to your space.
This community is for UK Veterans and their families, a place where you can be yourselves, support each other, and reconnect with the camaraderie of service life.
We believe in a community that respects both freedom of expression and safety from harm. Our guidelines reflect this balance.
Who We Are
- Audience: UK Veterans & their families, aged 16+
- Purpose: A private space for open conversation, banter, support, and connection
- Approach: Self-regulating, veteran-led, and authentic.
Zero Tolerance: What We Will Not Allow
We strictly follow UK law and will immediately ban users for any of the following:
Prohibited Behaviour | What That Means |
Bullying & Harassment | Repeated or targeted personal attacks, threats, intimidation |
Inciting Violence | Encouraging harm against individuals or groups, planning illegal activity |
Racism or Hate Speech | Racial abuse, discrimination, or content targeting protected groups under UK law |
Child Exploitation | Any content related to grooming, child abuse, or exploitation (zero tolerance) |
Threats (Real-Life) | Any credible threats, online or offline, toward community members or the public |
This applies across all posts, comments, photos, and private messages.
We use AI to monitor all communications, but we only review private messages if flagged by the system for potential violations.
We reserve the right to ban people immediately for any contravention of our guidelines and/or report them to the appropriate authorities if circumstances warrant.
Community Enforcement
Any member of the community can report inappropriate behaviour. This includes posts, comments, photos and private messages (if flagged by AI). Use the Report button to flag behaviour that you believe violates our guidelines.
Three Reports = Ban:
If your behaviour is upheld as inappropriate three times, you will be automatically banned.
- This applies whether the reports come from super users, regular members, both or AI.
- Each upheld report counts as a strike.
- Three upheld reports = permanent ban. No appeal.
Admin Review & Discretion:
- Admins will review flagged content to decide if the report is valid.
- We may also ban users at our discretion, even if fewer than three reports exist, if behaviour is severe enough to warrant immediate action.
Content Removal:
Posts, comments, or messages that violate the rules may be deleted, whether or not the user is banned.
What We Encourage
- Authentic conversation and banter
- Supporting fellow veterans
- Sharing experiences and stories
- Respectful disagreement
- Helping new members feel welcome
- Reporting inappropriate behaviour
Content Guidelines
When posting content, please consider:
- Is it respectful to all members?
- Does it contribute to the community?
- Is it appropriate for a veteran audience?
- Would you say this in person to another veteran?
Summary of the Reporting Process
Step | What Happens |
1. Report submitted | Any member reports a post, comment, or message |
2. Admin review | We check if the behaviour breaks the guidelines |
3. Strike added | If confirmed, a strike is logged |
4. 3 strikes = Ban | Once you've had 3 upheld reports, you are banned |
Private Messages
- The same rules apply in private and public spaces.
- Our AI monitors for serious violations (bullying, threats, racism, child exploitation).
- We will only access private messages if flagged by the AI for review.
Community Culture
This is your space - Veterans and their families, regulating yourselves, holding each other accountable.
If you see something that crosses the line, report it.
If you don't like the tone of the chat but it's within the rules, scroll on or join another conversation.
Final Word
We are not a civilian forum.
We respect your freedom to speak like you would among your own.
But if you break the law or violate these guidelines, you're out.
No warnings. No appeals. Three strikes = banned.
